Five Grooming Tips for your Pomsky Puppy

August 7, 2018

Now that you’ve purchased a Pomsky for sale and brought her into your home, you’ll need some informational key points on grooming your new pup.

Here are five helpful grooming tips to get you started and acclimated to caring for your Pomsky.

Bathing Tip

Bathing your Pomsky doesn’t have to be an arduous task, especially since it’s only required to be done every 1 to 3 months. In the summer months, it should be done every month, but in winter months every other month is sufficient. This all really depends on how active your pup is and the amount of time she spends outside.

To bathe your newly purchased Pomsky for sale, you’ll just need a tub, warm water, cotton balls (to keep soap and water out of her ears), dog shampoo, towels, and a blow dryer.

Brushing and Hair Clipping Tip

Bristle brushing keeps your pup’s coat clean, tangle-free, removes dead and loose hair, and stimulates blood flow. Regular clipping will reduce the risk of skin infections. You will also be able to detect fleas and prevent matting. For clipping, you will need scissors, clippers, and trimmer. If your Pomsky has really thick fur, invest in powerful clippers, which are a bit pricier, but worth it.

Nail Trimming Tip

The Pomsky for sale you purchased from us already had short and well-trimmed nails. It is a good practice to keep her nails short to prevent them from becoming ingrown and painful. Nail trimming can be done by you at home or by professionals.

Eyes and Ears Cleaning Tip

Pomskies are double-coated dogs, so they will require and benefit greatly from regular trimming around the ears and eyes. You will need a trimmer, scissors, cotton balls, and olive or mineral oil. Cotton balls should be used for wiping for both their eyes and ears. Gently wipe the inside of their ears with oil without touching their ear canals. Use the scissors to remove extra hair in their canals. Any dry debris and tear stairs in the corner of the eyes should be wiped away with a moistened cotton ball.

Teeth Brushing Tip

Regular brushing is important for all dogs to prevent gum disease. In the beginning, use your fingers to massage your pup’s teeth. Put a little of the toothpaste on her lips to get her used to the taste. Once she gets familiar, then you can brush her teeth with a toothbrush.
