Definition of Teacup Dog Breeds

First, let us say that the term teacup is the unofficial name associated with extremely small dogs that can actually fit in a teacup! There aren’t official teacup dog breeds, however. It simply refers to their tiny stature. You may also hear them being referred to as toy dogs or micro dogs.

Size of Teacup Dog Breeds

When referring to a dog who’s considered to be a teacup, you’ll find that they will range in size typically from 3 to 4 pounds, at their full-grown weight. Teacup puppies measure at roughly 17 inches or less. If the dog is considered micro, they will usually weigh between 2 to 3 pounds at its full grown weight and age. There is no universal or mandatory size since teacups are not an official breed and are not regulated. Other times, teacup puppies are the result of breeding two very small dogs of a certain breed.

How Should You Care for Your Teacup Puppy?

Feed your teacup puppies a healthy diet always. It should be one that’s very rich in fiber. Purchase canned or dry foods that contain ingredients like eggs, chicken, fruits, veggies, and omega 3 fatty acids.

 

Allow teacup puppies get sufficient rest. They play a lot and tend to feel very tired after activity. Provide a comfortable bed for your teacup puppy. After playing with your puppy, place her in the bed and leave her alone to rest for a few hours! She needs it. Teacup puppies actually need about 14 hours of sleep each day!
