The Non-Aggressive Bulldog

July 24, 2018

There are members of the dog lover community that don’t necessarily have respect for dogs.

Those are the members who perpetuate and encourage violence and aggression with their and other dogs. Bulldogs, Pit Bull Terriers, etc. have gotten reputations for being aggressors, either in the past or present. For as loving as we know them to actually be, it’s a disgrace in the dog community. We would be absolutely appalled if one of our Bulldog puppies for sale fell into the wrong hands and wrong category. Some pet owners aren’t equipped with the knowledge to quash aggressive behavior with their pups – thinking that it’s cute or funny. Here at Furry Babies, we want to shed light on puppy aggression through education and condemnation. Read on to learn more of how you can prevent and thwart such negative behavior.

What makes your puppies aggressive?

Let’s take a scenario with Bulldog puppies for sale that have been purchased and are living in a loving home for a year or more. The owner thinks that leaving the Bulldog tied down outside, in moderate and comfortable temperatures, is okay for a while. Somehow they are inadvertently left outside for days. Tie downs often create aggression even with normally social dogs. Those loving Bulldog puppies for sale have behaviors and sociability that has deteriorated and at a very rapid rate. For dogs it is frustrating, scary, and confusing to be tied up and feeling like you can’t get away! So, upon sight of the first person that they finally see, but not interact with, they won’t understand why they aren’t being petted or greeted. Ultimately when the first physical interaction occurs, they may leap or lunge at the person. They have been conditioned at this point to not trust people, becoming defensive and irritated often. Now, this is the scenario with normally social Bulldog puppies for sale that were lovingly purchased. Imagine a nervous or fearful rescued dog being treated the same way. Their aggression will be tenfold and thus a faster recipe for disaster was created.

What are signs of aggression?

  • Growling
  • Showing teeth
  • Becoming very still and rigid
  • Quick nip that leaves no mark
  • Quick bite that tears the skin
  • Lunging forward or charging at the person with no contact
  • “Muzzle punch” (the dog literally punches the person with his nose)
  • Bite with enough pressure to cause a bruise
  • Bite that causes puncture wounds
  • Repeated bites in rapid succession
  • Snarl (a combination of growling and showing teeth)
  • Snap

What can you do to prevent aggression?

To prevent those adorable Bulldog puppies for sale that you’ve purchased from becoming aggressive, train them early on, preferably with a professional. Early socialization is a must for all dogs, we believe. This involves with other people and pets. If you see any signs of aggression, including food or toy aggression, it’s imperative to address this behavior head-on and do not let it linger.

At Furry Babies, we want all of our pets to be loving and peaceful members of the pet community!
