We have found that Malteses are extremely friendly and outgoing. These little babies exude confidence! At times that confidence can be misread as standoffish. No worries though, we told you that they’re friendly and welcoming.
Training and Exercise
Maltese won’t require a lot of exercise, but they do enjoy relaxing walks. Keep your pup leashed at all times. Regarding their training, get them socialized as early as possible. Take them around other dogs and people so that they can remain affable little beauties.
When teaching a Maltese commands, be firm but not harsh. They are sensitive and are known to cower away. They are not difficult to train in obedience but show some complexities with housebreaking. Crate training is recommended for them. You may even opt for a litter box, because of their small sizes.
